If the drivers are loaded for a particular media type, such as Video for Windows (.avi), this applet provides a way to view and hear a stream of data. This is an easy way to access any type of multimedia on a Windows-based system. Version 5.0, released in 1998, plays a wide variety of file types, including MPEG, MIDI, and compressed video for the web.
