(n.) Generally used for high bandwidth MPEG audio to achieve quality comparable to Red Book CD-Audio. It may be multiplexed with both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video streams. Layer 2 operates at rates from 128 kbps to 384 Kbps for stereo content.
