noninterlaced

« BACK TO DICTIONARY INDEX

(adj.) Describes a video system that draws all the horizontal lines across the screen in succession, as opposed to interlaced scanning in which even and odd lines are drawn alternately in two sweeps. A noninterlaced scan is also known as a progressive scan. Computer monitors are typically noninterlaced. By contrast, television video monitors are interlaced, and their signal content contains two fields for each frame.
