(n.) A standard for accessing diverse database systems. ODBC has interfaces for SQL, Visual Basic, and Visual C++, and it has drivers for dBASE, Access, Paradox, and other databases. ODBC 1.0 was released in September 1992. It is based on the call-level interface and was defined by the SQL Access Group.
