Half-step

The smallest interval in Western traditional music, also known as a semi-tone. Adjacent pitches on a keyboard are half-steps. For example, A to A♭ is a half-step; B to C is a half-step; and D# to E is a half-step. Whole-steps consist of two half-steps.
