(n.) A digital audio data compression algorithm developed by Dolby Labs and used in HDTV transmission and for DVD audio. It provides 5.1-channel surround sound. A competing algorithm is the DTS Zeta Digital sound format. AC-1 and AC-2 are other versions developed by Dolby for different applications.
