(adj.) Describes a type of color representation based on the cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (K) inks used in color printing. With subtractive color mixing, one can produce all available colors from the first three inks. Black is used to add tonal range and to define edges. Cyan is a blue, and magenta is a red.
