(n.) A flexible bit rate reduction standard for high quality audio. It was developed for digital audio broadcast by a collaboration of Centre Commun d’Etudes de Telediffusion et Teleecommunicaions (CCETT) in France, Institut fur Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in Germany and Philips in the Netherlands. MUSICAM operates on a bandwidth of 192 KBps, 128 kbps, and 64 kbps. The sampling rates are 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz.
