(n.) A particular type of cut-only equalizer used to attenuate a narrow band of frequencies. Three controls determine the notch parameters: frequency, bandwidth, and depth. Simplified units offer only a frequency control, with bandwidth and depth fixed. A notch filter may be effectively used to control feedback and to eliminate a small band of frequencies where a system resonates.
