Parameter RAM [PRAM]

« BACK TO DICTIONARY INDEX

(pronounced “PEE-ram”) (n.) Parameter random-access memory; a portion of RAM used to store system configuration and startup settings on a Macintosh computer. PRAM is powered by a battery and will automatically default to factory settings if the battery is removed from the computer for a few minutes. This procedure, called zapping the PRAM, is a last resort when solving system problems.
