QuickTime for Windows

« BACK TO DICTIONARY INDEX

(n.) A version of QuickTime from Apple Computer that has been ported over to Windows. It plays QuickTime movies that have been specially processed, or “flattened,” to remove their Macintosh binary headers. QuickTime movies have different brightness and contrast characteristics when viewed on an IBM-compatible machine as opposed to a Macintosh, because the two systems treat the gamma component of images differently. The QuickTime for Windows runtime player is distributed for free.
