sitemap

« BACK TO DICTIONARY INDEX

(n.) A model showing the organization of a web site, often with links to the individual pages on the site. More elaborate sitemaps that provide a hierarchical description of a site may be written in the resource description format (RDF), an XML application. A browser finds an RDF sitemap by locating the tags embedded in pages on a site. These tags instruct the browser to open the sitemap and render a graphical display of the site diagram. This was one of the first implementations of RDF.
