(n.) An image compression technique that removes redundant data within any given image. For example, a field of blue in a picture could be reduced to the coordinates of a geometric shape along with a value for the color blue, denoting an area rather than many individual blue pixels. Fine gradations between adjacent pixels are lost in spatial compression.
