« BACK TO DICTIONARY INDEX

(n.) In an RGB display, a set of red, green, and blue phosphors arranged in a triangle. Three guns fire electron beams of different colors at the phosphors on the tube. The phosphors are excited by the beam, whose color matches theirs. The triad produces a single color, which is a combination of the colors of the three excited phosphors.
