(n.) A common terminator on a cable used by most consumer audio and video equipment. The male connector is an inner pin encircled by a concentric ring. The female connector is a socket with a raised housing for the ring. A male RCA connector is also known as a phono connector or a phono plug, not to be confused with a phone jack or plug, which refers to a 0.25-inch pin with no ring around it.
