While not necessary for proof of ownership, this is a notice printed on a work that identifies the creator. It includes three elements: (1) the symbol or the word “copyright”; (2) the year in which it was first produced or registered; and (3) the copyright owner’s name. Sometimes the words “All rights reserved” are added. Works that have a copyright notice are more easily defended if ownership is contested or infringed.
