(n.) A method of converting film at 24 frames per second (fps) to interlaced video at 30 fps, with two fields per frame. The first two fields of video are derived from the first field of film. The next three fields of video are derived from the next frame of film. This process is repeated, alternating two video fields, then three video fields from each subsequent frame of film. This can cause noticeable flicker when the two fields in a single frame of interlaced video come from two different frames in the original film. See figure under interfield frames.
