(n.) The Netscape variation of HTTP used to process secure transactions. Web browsers support HTTPS, which is a special URL access method for connecting to HTTP servers using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has designated the default HTTPS port number as 443.
