Course Description
- This is the third course in a sequence of three, Contemporary Music Theory 101, 102, and 103. It is assumed that you have taken 102, or have thorough fluency with fundamentals, as well as SATB part writing, cadences, and non-chord tones. In this course you will study:
- Secondary Dominant and Leading-tone chords
- Borrowed chords and Mode Mixture
- Harmonic Modulation in various styles
- Altered Pre-Dominant chords
- Extended chords with the 9th, 11th, and 13th
- Formal Structures and Song Writing
