Course Description
- This is the third course in a sequence of three: Fundamentals, Diatonic Harmony and Chromatic Harmony. The prerequisite is Diatonic Harmony, or fluency with fundamentals, SATB part writing, cadences, and non-chord tones. In this course you will study:
- Secondary Dominant and Leading-Tone chords
- Borrowed chords and Mode Mixture
- Harmonic Modulation of various types
- Neapolitan & Augmented 6th Chords
- Extended chords with the 9th, 11th, and 13th
- Non-Functional Harmonies
