(n.) A typeface with lines and curves defined by mathematical vectors, as opposed to a bitmap font, which is defined by individual pixels. An outline font can be scaled to any size and transformed more easily than can a bitmap font. PostScript and TrueType are both outline fonts, which are also known as vector fonts.
