This piece casts the cylindrical brass instruments against the more conical ones in the form of a dialogue. The trumpet and trombone have a theme that contrasts with the theme promoted by the horn in F and tuba. The flugel horn is the mediator in the discussion. Consensus is reached when the meter changes and the instruments compromise. It is very rhythmic and energetic, with pairs of instruments forming duets at times. It is a free 12-tone composition with a high degree of consonance.
