(n.) 1. Developed by Philips and JVC in 1993, a specification for storing MPEG-1 video on a CD-ROM. The White Book standard is an extension of the Red Book standard for digital audio, the Yellow Book standard for CD-ROM, the Green Book standard for CD-i, and the Orange Book standard for CD-R. As with the other standards, the name of the White Book standard describes the color of its cover. 2. The fourth book in Adobe’s PostScript series, describing the format of Type 1 fonts. The other three official guides are known as the Blue Book, the Green Book, and the Red Book.
